A History of Riches

Northern Ontario has an extensive and prosperous narrative within Canada’s mining supply and service industry. Over the last eight years, it has further solidified its presence through a partnership of communities from throughout the region to display their strengths in the Northern Ontario Mining Showcase (NOMS) at the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) convention and Canadian Institute of Mining (CIM) Expo.

The foundation of the NOMS is rooted in relationships that originated in the Township of James and Elk Lake, which has since expanded to include additional Northern Ontario communities, organizations and businesses.

What was once a small corner booth within the Ontario Pavilion in 2010, has substantially transformed over the years. From the Steam Whistle Brewery in 2014, featuring 35 companies; to showcasing over 110 exhibitors at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in 2024 and beyond!

We've come a long way

Thank you for putting together the Ontario Showcase and for including us. It was our first time exhibiting at the PDAC and overall was an absolutely frictionless experience that is a tribute to your great, amazing, organizational skills. À la prochaine!

The traffic to our booth at the show was fantastic. We had the opportunity to introduce our innovative Canadian made drilling system to several potential customers including local, national and international drilling contractors and mining companies. We also had the opportunity to meet with several government representatives and funding organizations. The visibility on Drillco and the drilling system surpassed our expectations. Special thanks for FedNor’s support at this years PDAC conference in Toronto. Without your support, Drillco would not have been able to attend.

Since the show, we have received requests for manufacturing and supply into such places as New Brunswick, Saskatchewan, Finland, and the USA. These requests were generated from meetings and discussions we had at our booth in the Northern Ontario Mining Showcase. On another note, the boardroom that was booked made it very convenient to register and also for hanging our coats through the week. As well, the Northern Ontario Night was a huge success, and was very good for us to bring a few clients and socialize. The environment allowed us to truly get to know each other, and strengthen relationships. As you know, relationships are huge in this industry. I would like to thank you and the Northern Ontario Mining Showcase Committee, as well as FedNor for making this possible for us. We look forward to next year.

Showcase Objectives

The goal of the Northern Ontario Mining Showcase (NOMS) is to support Northern Ontario small and medium enterprises within the mining sector in leveraging new business and identifying potential partners, opportunities and networks. The intent is to demonstrate firsthand that collectively Northern Ontario firms have the expertise, capacity and infrastructure to service the requirements of various small and large scale projects.

It is also important for prospective clients to understand the compatibility, synergies and “culture” between the manufacturing and supply sector of Northern Ontario and companies worldwide. This enables businesses in the North to showcase their level of innovation and technology to the global marketplace.

In also provides small and medium enterprises with an opportunity for partnership development between northern firms.
